Affiliate Partner Terms & Conditions

Introduction

Welcome to the Tallow & Things® Affiliate Partner Program. This program rewards our customers, storefront partners, and community members for introducing new customers to our products.

By participating in this program, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully — particularly the section on Product Claims and Communication Standards, which explains what you may and may not say about our products.

Eligibility

  1. You must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. You must have a valid method of receiving payment.
  3. Customers who purchase from Tallow & Things LLC may be automatically enrolled in the program. Applications submitted through our affiliate sign-up form are reviewed manually and acceptance is not automatic. 
  4. Tallow & Things LLC reserves the right to approve or decline any application, and to remove any affiliate from the program at any time.  

Program Participation

  1. Upon approval, you will receive a unique referral link and discount code.
  2. Commissions are earned on qualifying sales that are attributable to your referral link or code.
  3. You are responsible for ensuring that your promotional methods comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to Federal Trade Commission guidelines and state advertising law.
  4. You may not represent yourself as an employee, agent, or official representative of Tallow & Things LLC.

Commission Structure

Tallow & Things® operates two affiliate programs with different terms, described below. Your program type is shown in your affiliate dashboard.

  1. Advocates Program. You earn 15% commission on the product revenue of a qualifying first order placed by a new customer you refer. No commission is paid on subscription renewals.
  2. Storefront Partners Program. You earn 20% commission on the product revenue of a qualifying first order placed by a new customer you refer, and 10% commission on each subsequent subscription renewal order from that customer, for as long as both the subscription and this commission rate remain active, subject to the rate-change and termination provisions below. There is no limit to the number of renewal orders on which commission is paid.
  3. New customers only. Commissions are payable only on orders from customers who have not previously purchased from Tallow & Things LLC. Orders placed by existing customers, including customers who use your referral link, are not eligible for commission.
  4. Commission is calculated on product revenue only. Sales tax, shipping charges, and any discounts applied to the order are excluded from the commission calculation.
  5. Attribution window. Your referral is tracked for 30 days from the time a customer clicks your link. If a customer subsequently clicks another affiliate's link before purchasing, the first affiliate link clicked receives attribution.
  6. Commission rates are subject to change at the discretion of Tallow & Things LLC. Affiliates will be notified in advance of any change, and changes will not apply retroactively to commissions already earned.

Customer Discount

  1. Customers who purchase using your referral link or code receive a discount on their first order. The discount amount depends on which program you participate in and is shown in your affiliate dashboard: Advocates Program referrals receive 15% off; Storefront Partners Program referrals receive 10% off.
  2. This discount applies to the customer's first order only and does not apply to subscription renewal orders.
  3. Your referral discount cannot be combined with other discount codes or promotional offers. If a customer's cart includes another discount, only one will apply.
  4. Referral discounts may be combined with a Subscribe & Save subscription discount, where applicable.

Payments

  1. Approval period. Commissions are held for 30 days following the referred order before becoming eligible for payout. This period aligns with our refund window.
  2. Refunds and cancellations. Commissions on orders that are returned, refunded, or cancelled will be voided and deducted from your balance.
  3. Payment schedule. Approved commissions are paid monthly.
  4. Minimum payout. A minimum balance of $25.00 is required before a payout is issued. Balances below this amount roll forward to the following month.
  5. Tax reporting. Affiliates earning above the applicable federal or state reporting threshold in a calendar year will be required to provide tax information. Payments may be withheld until this information is received.
  6. Verification. All commissions are subject to review and verification. Tallow & Things LLC may delay or withhold payment while an investigation is conducted.
  7. Commissions determined to have been earned through fraudulent, deceptive, or prohibited methods will be voided.

Product Claims and Communication Standards

This section is the most important part of these terms.

Our products are cosmetics. They are not drugs, and they are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or condition. Under federal law, a product marketed with claims that it treats a condition may be regulated as a drug regardless of its ingredients.

Statements made by affiliates about our products may be attributed to Tallow & Things LLC. For this reason, the following standards apply to all affiliates.

You may describe

  • Ingredients and sourcing: 100% grass-fed and grass-finished tallow, minimal ingredients, no fillers, no synthetics, no water
  • How the product is made: small-batch, made by hand, family-made
  • Sensory qualities: how it feels, how it absorbs, its texture, its scent
  • Appearance-related observations about your own skin: that it looks or feels softer, smoother, or more comfortable
  • Your genuine personal enjoyment of the product

You may not state or imply

  • That any product heals, treats, cures, prevents, or relieves any skin condition or disease, including but not limited to eczema, acne, rosacea, psoriasis, dermatitis, scarring, or sunburn
  • That any product is anti-aging, reverses wrinkles, or reduces the signs of aging
  • That any product has medical, therapeutic, or health benefits of any kind
  • That any product is a sunscreen, sunblock, or provides protection from ultraviolet radiation
  • That any product is non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, or suitable for a specific diagnosed condition
  • Any claim about results that a customer should expect

These restrictions apply even where the statement is true of your own personal experience. A description of how a product resolved a named condition for you is a health claim and is prohibited.

If you are unsure

Contact us before publishing. We would rather answer a question in advance than address a claim after it has been made.

Tallow & Things LLC reserves the right to require removal of any content that does not meet these standards, and to terminate the participation of any affiliate who does not comply.

Required Disclosure

  1. Federal Trade Commission guidelines require that you clearly and conspicuously disclose your material connection to Tallow & Things LLC whenever you promote our products.
  2. The disclosure must be placed where the audience will see it — not buried in a comment, behind a "more" link, or at the end of a lengthy post.
  3. Acceptable disclosures include: "I earn a commission on purchases made through my link," "affiliate link," or "#ad."
  4. Disclosure is required in all channels, including social media posts, videos, emails, text messages, in-person recommendations where compensation would not be obvious, and any physical display of your referral code or QR code in a retail location.
  5. You are responsible for compliance with these requirements. Failure to disclose may result in removal from the program.

Content and Media Usage

  1. You grant Tallow & Things LLC a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, reproduce, display, and distribute content you create in connection with the promotion of our products, including photographs, video, written reviews, and social media posts.
  2. This license includes use in our marketing materials, on our website, in email communications, in paid advertising, and on our social media channels.
  3. We will credit you where practical and will not use your content in a manner that misrepresents your views.
  4. This license survives termination of your participation in the program with respect to content created during your participation.
  5. You represent that you own or have the right to grant this license for any content you create, and that the content does not infringe the rights of any third party.

Prohibited Promotional Methods

  1. Coupon and deal sites. Posting your code or link on coupon aggregation sites, including but not limited to Honey, RetailMeNot, CouponBird, and similar services, is prohibited. Affiliates found to have shared or permitted their codes to be posted on such sites are subject to immediate termination and forfeiture of pending commissions.
  2. Paid search. Bidding on Tallow & Things® brand terms, trademarks, or common misspellings in search engine advertising is prohibited.
  3. Unsolicited messaging. Sending unsolicited bulk email, text messages, or direct messages promoting our products is prohibited.
  4. Self-referral. Using your own referral link or code for your own purchases is prohibited and will not generate commission.
  5. Misrepresentation. You may not create websites, social media accounts, or other materials that could reasonably be mistaken for official Tallow & Things® properties.
  6. Please report any unauthorized use of your code to us for investigation.

Intellectual Property

  1. You may use Tallow & Things® brand assets, including our logo, product photography, and marketing materials, solely for the purpose of promoting our products under this program.
  2. You may not alter, distort, or modify our brand assets without prior written consent.
  3. All promotional materials must be used in a manner consistent with our brand guidelines and reputation.
  4. Your license to use our brand assets terminates immediately upon termination of your participation in the program.

Termination

  1. Either party may terminate this relationship at any time, with or without cause, with written notice.
  2. Upon termination, you must cease all use of Tallow & Things® branding, promotional materials, referral links, and codes.
  3. Commissions earned prior to termination will be paid according to the normal schedule, except where termination results from a violation of these terms, in which case pending commissions may be forfeited.
  4. Affiliates removed for cause may not rejoin the program.

Limitation of Liability

Tallow & Things LLC will not be liable for indirect, special, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of revenue, profits, or data arising in connection with this agreement or the Affiliate Partner Program, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

Tallow & Things LLC makes no guarantee regarding the amount of commission any affiliate will earn.

Amendment

Tallow & Things LLC reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active affiliates. Continued participation in the program following notice of a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Agreement

By participating in the Tallow & Things® Affiliate Partner Program, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. You understand that violation of any term may result in termination of your participation and forfeiture of accrued commissions.
